About Eric

My tennis journey started at the tender age of 3, laying the foundation for what would become a lifelong passion and a professional pursuit. Rising through the ranks to become France's number 1 junior player, I later showcased my skills on the ATP tours and at Stanford, where I played Division 1 tennis while completing my master's degree. My path has also led me into tech consulting and nonprofit work, broadening my skill set and worldview. This blend of high-level athletic competition, academic achievement, and professional experience shapes my coaching approach. I emphasize discipline, teamwork, and passion, aiming to enhance not just the tennis abilities of my students but also their personal growth. My unique journey allows me to offer a holistic coaching experience that nurtures talent on and off the court.

As a former professional tennis player from France with a distinguished playing career at Stanford, I bring a wealth of experience and a unique international perspective to my tennis coaching. My approach is tailored to not only impart technical skills but also to instill a love for the game and an understanding of its mental aspects. My teaching philosophy is centered around personalization and adaptability, ensuring that each lesson is customized to fit the individual needs, goals, and abilities of my students.

Teaching Method and Techniques:

My coaching sessions are built on a foundation of fundamental tennis skills, combined with advanced techniques that I've honed over years of competition at high levels. I employ a variety of drills, live play situations, and video analysis to provide comprehensive feedback. This blend of traditional methods and modern technology allows for a holistic development of my students' game, focusing on technique, strategy, fitness, and mental toughness.

A Typical Lesson Plan:

A typical lesson with me begins with a brief discussion to set the day's goals based on the student's progress and feedback from previous sessions. This is followed by a dynamic warm-up, tailored technical drills to improve specific aspects of the student's game (such as serve, volley, or groundstrokes), tactical exercises to develop match play strategies, and ends with a cool-down phase. Throughout the session, I emphasize the importance of mental preparation, decision-making, and sportsmanship.

What Sets Me Apart:

What truly sets me apart as a tutor is my comprehensive understanding of the game, from the grassroots to the professional level, combined with my passion for teaching and seeing my students grow. My background allows me to bring insights from the professional circuit, offering students a glimpse into what it takes to compete at the highest levels. I am committed to creating a positive and encouraging learning environment that motivates students to push their boundaries and achieve their full potential.

Who the Lessons Are For:

My lessons are designed for a wide range of students, from beginners to advanced players seeking to refine their skills or prepare for competition. Whether you are a young enthusiast looking to learn the basics, a high school player aiming for a college team, or an adult seeking to improve your game for recreational play, I offer tailored coaching to meet your specific needs and aspirations. My experience allows me to adapt my teaching style to suit players of all ages, levels, and ambitions, making the beautiful game of tennis accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

  • 1) What age did you start playing sport? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.

I started playing tennis at the tender age of 3, sparked by a combination of family influence and genuine curiosity about movement and competition. From the very beginning, holding a racquet felt natural, and I was captivated by the rhythm and challenge of hitting the ball. Those early years laid the foundation for what grew into a lifelong passion; even as a young child, sport became my chosen playground—not just for physical activity, but also for personal growth and discovery.
  • 2) What are your favourite sports; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a sport that you'd still like to discover?

My favorite sport is undeniably tennis, which I’ve practiced at the highest level—as France's number one junior, ATP tour competitor, and Division 1 student-athlete at Stanford. Tennis is both my profession and my passion. As simple hobbies, I enjoy running, which helps me clear my mind, and occasionally play soccer with friends for the fun and teamwork involved. One sport I’d love to discover further is paddle tennis; I’m intrigued by its growing popularity and unique blend of tennis skills with a different strategic approach.
  • 3) What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue your sport?

My motivation stems from the continual challenge that tennis offers—every day brings a new opportunity for growth, both physically and mentally. I’m passionate about pushing my limits, striving for excellence, and experiencing the euphoria that comes from hard-earned success, whether it’s on the court or in life. The community around tennis, including students, coaches, and supporters, amplifies this passion and motivates me to keep improving and sharing knowledge.
  • 4) Do you have a sporting achievement that you're particularly proud of?

Absolutely. I am especially proud of being ranked number one among French junior players and competing professionally on the ATP tours. Equally meaningful was my experience playing Division 1 tennis at Stanford, where balancing academics with top-level athletics required deep discipline and resilience. These achievements aren’t just numbers or titles—they represent years of dedication, sacrifices, and growth.
  • 5) How have your achievements and challenges made you a better sportsperson?

Achievements have taught me the value of discipline, planning, and perseverance, while challenges have deepened my resilience and humility. Facing tough matches, injuries, and professional setbacks helped me develop a growth mindset—learning to embrace both victory and defeat as crucial moments for reflection and improvement. This holistic perspective now guides my coaching style, helping my students appreciate the journey as much as the destination.
  • 6) If you had to go for a jog with a famous athlete, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?

If given the chance, I’d choose Roger Federer. I’d love to ask him about his mental strategies for staying focused during high-pressure moments and how he balances his professional career with personal life and philanthropy. I’d also be interested in his thoughts on evolving as an athlete and leader over time, handling setbacks, and his approach to nurturing passion for the sport.
  • 7) How do you help people stay motivated?

I help my students stay motivated by setting clear, attainable goals and celebrating progress—big or small. I foster a supportive environment where passion and perseverance are valued above perfection. By personalizing coaching plans, integrating fun and challenge, and sharing stories from my own journey, I remind my players that setbacks are part of the process, and every step forward is an achievement worth acknowledging.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in sports?

What makes me a Superprof is my unique blend of professional tennis experience, academic excellence, and holistic coaching philosophy. My journey—spanning elite athletic competition, rigorous academic settings, and professional consulting—allows me to offer lessons that go beyond technique, emphasizing personal development, discipline, and growth. I create a nurturing and challenging environment where every student learns not just to play tennis, but to thrive as individuals on and off the court.
